I thoroughly enjoyed this walk! Having walked around London before I thought this tour was quite a treat to see some secret gems and finding the boat ride a lovely break between each walking parts. The tour guide Ferry was thoroughly entertaining he's very good at recreating the scene for you so you remember exactly where what was in each film! Great Tour. Great Guide (Thanks again Ferry!). Recommended!

by CMatawa (a TripAdvisor Member) on 6 Jun 2013

I really enjoyed this tour!! Even my friend who knew nothing about HP really enjoyed seeing the sights, the boat trip and learning a bit about London, too. Our guide Rhiannon was very enthusiastic, funny and knowledgeable! The walking pace was just right.
I was a bit confused, however, why the boat trip was inclusive, but we had to pay for the tube trip ourselves and can't remember that being mentioned in the desciption on the website. However, it didn't distract from a great evening that lasted about 2 1/4 hours. I wished that we had more photos of the film to look at while standing outside the locations, such as the 2 Leaky Cauldron locations - whenever we were shown a photo, it really added to us being able to imagine what it was like in the film. However, I would definintely recommend this tour!

I went on this tour with my friend after getting a voucher of Amazon for £8 each. This was a good tour, takes you to quite a few places, and many new places that I didn't know of, and I live just outside of london! Will (tour guide) i think his name was Will? was a very good tour guide.
The only fault is that the tour is VERY fast paced, i was almost running most of the time. and its a shame you dont get a bit longer to take pictures or anything, because you will forget how to get back to the locations! Also, I must say, I wouldn't pay anymore than £10 for this tour.

We went on this tour on April 11 with our children aged 10 and 8 and had a fantastic time. Our guide, Kyla, couldn't have been kinder to the children and was incredibly knowledgeable about every aspect of the Harry Potter books and films. At the end of the tour, my ten year old asked me to buy him a Harry Potter book to read! Well done, Kyla - his teachers have never managed that!!!

Thanks to Ferry and Gerry for an insightful tour yesterday. We learnt so much more about Harry and his filming adventures around parts of London I didn't even know existed. Ferry was so knowledgable about the history and movie making, you almost felt like an extra in the film. Thoroughly recommended!!

    by Richard_P_10 (a TripAdvisor Member) on 30 Apr 2013

We went as a family of four (two kids 11 and 13) on the Celebrity Planet tour and were very impressed. Ferry, our tour guide, was immense and full of info on both Harry Potter film locations as well as other snippets of general London info. He was also very funny.

I have absolutely no knowledge of Harry Potter at all, having not watched more than a half hour of the first film, but even I found it interesting. So you can imagine that my wife and children thought it was brilliant.

The tour begins in Leicester Square and lasted around 2 hours 15 minutes. There was a lot of walking involved so bring some sturdy shoes, and involved a relaxing 12 minute Thames ferry transfer as well as a tube trip to platform 9 and three quarters at Kings Cross station. Ours was conducted during horrendous rainy downpours which turned Ferry's identifying umbrella inside out, rendering it useless as a highly visible focal point, before the walk through a packed Borough Market, but he counted us all out and counted us all in again at the end.

Definitely recommended if you're a Potter fan, and still a good day out even if you're a muggle like me.

I got this walking tour as a present from my boyfriend, since I really love the Harry Potter saga! We truly enjoyed it. Our guide, Will, was very enthusiastic and fun to listen to. He also talked about other films and curious facts as we walked, making the tour interesting also for those who are not that into Harry Potter (like my boyfriend!).
We live in London but we very much enjoyed this tour as a chance to discover new places, and see old places with different eyes.
You do have to walk quite a bit, but the variety of places (small lanes, big roads, markets, boat ride) makes the walk very enjoyable.
We really recommend this tour, and especially Will who is a fantastic guide!

His knowledge on not just Harry Potter but facts on London made the tour really interesting. Ferry was funny and kept the group together and entertained brilliantly. He was brilliant with my youngest son Daniel. I can't recommend this tour enough, and if you get Ferry, you get a bonus.

My tour guide was Becky, she was very enthusiastic and knew exactly what she was talking about, and had a clear speaking voice which is always good! I learnt knew things on this tour that I didn't know already, and I would recommend for anyone (even if not a HP fan) to give it a go.
I liked the idea of a boat ride too, I have never been on the Thames before, so that in itself was an experience.
If I had any questions for Becky, she knew the answer, and she came across as an extremely intelligent girl.
    Platform 9 3/4 was another highlight ha-ha!
I thoroughly enjoyed my day, and I would feel comfortable to go on any other tours Becky may provide!
Thanks for a great day and money well spent!

The sites we visited were all perfect for this tour. If you did not recognize them, it was no problem, because William took a Tablet-PC and showed some scenes from the film so you could recognize them.

Booked this tour for me and mum for mother's day. We thoroughly enjoy the day even though it was cold out all that walking kept us warm and all the jokes our tour guide Alex made, made the day that more enjoyable :) He really gave us lots of info and his idea of showing us clips of the Potter films on location was great. I took many pictures and as soon as we got home me and mum had a Potter movie marathon and we recognised all the locations Alex took us! Watching Harry Potter now after the tour...its much more enjoyable as we know more about the films and where different scences were shot in London.

I took my daughter who just graduated from JHS to the U.K.. She is a so called, "Potterian" who loves the movie, Harry Potter. (I am not really. :) I booked this tour as I thought it would be handy to get around in a short time. 12 guests around the world (the U.S., France, etc) including us from Japan were guided by William Shabey. He is a young and a handsome English guy. Although my daughter really does not understand his English well, I translated in Japanese. On the sites where we were, she actually recalled how the site was filmed. She was so excited to visit the places and I enjoyed his friendly and knowledgeable guide. He was so kind to everyone and shares the story about other movies and the Olympics held last summer.. Celebrity Planet ought to be proud of having such a great guide like William.
    Please pass him our appreciation!!!

Spent an enjoyable afternoon seeing some of the London sights through the eyes of the Harry Potter films. The tour guide, William Ashbey, really brought the films alive and left me wanting to go home and re-watch them all. Walked through areas of London I would not otherwise have thought to go to, and was shown bits used in the films which I would not have found on my own in areas I have been to before. Well worth doing if you are a fan.

We went on the Harry Potter walking tour on a Saturday afternoon in November with Will as our guide. Overall we all loved the tour and found it very interesting and informative. Will showed us movie clips on his ipad of the places we were shown which added to the fun. The walk did move at a fast pace and would not be suitable for small children. Being a Saturday afternoon Borough Market was very busy, it would have been easy to get distracted by all the sights and sounds but as Will said "follow the wand!" The tour ended at Kings Cross Station with a photo opportunity of platform 9 3/4. If you love the Harry Potter films I would recommend this tour if you are in London and have 3 hours to spare.

Me and My friend had a couple of days on london, and the Harry potter tour was a total highlight of the whole trip!

It was ran by a brilliant tour guide, Becky. From the word go, she was personable and was great at organizing everyone (there was far too many people booked up, but she handled it well - maybe not so many at a time???) and off we went on our tour! We visited some of the actual places in London where they had filmed the ministry of magic, the leaky cauldron and the inspiration for Diagon Alley.

The best part of the tour was the boat ride, down the Thames, like in Deathly Hallows (pt1) where the dementors fly down the river, by millennium bridge! It was such a lovely day, and the boat ride was gorgeous. After that we got off further down the river, and walked for a while. There was a lot of getting on off tubes and walking, so anyone who is physically not able to handle that, this might not be the tour for you. Another highlight was platform 9 3/4 at kings cross. When I went, they were doing a lot of renovation work, but had luckily put a temporary platform 9 3/4 round the side of the station, for such a great photo opportunity!

All in all, the tour was great. It involved a lot of walking, but if your up for an adventure I'd thoroughly reccomend it. Again, Becky was brilliant - but If i had one thing to say it is that the company need to give her better reference materials, like when we were standing outside the leaky cauldron, she had picture to reference it, but it was all dog eared and handled - little details (like laminting that picture for the tour guides) that cost nothing make the whole experience better!

The four of us really enjoyed this guided walk and it was great to amble through parts of London I don't normally have time to visit (the boat trip is a huge plus). I'm not the HP fan in our family but even I found it interesting. You'll love it if you are a fan as its great to see some of the locations from the films. George, the guide, was excellent.

by William K (a TripAdvisor Member) on 21 Mar 2012

I enjoyed so much being in all the places where Harry potter was Filmed in London. The weather was glorious, a nice group and a great tour guide, Yuki was friendly, helpful and enthusiastic. I had a nice photo in the platform 9/4 and Yuki varied his voice for the cinema effect. Found some new places to for a night out.
I highly recommend the tour to all Harry potter fans or people interesting in the movies. Not only have you the chance to see places from the movie, but also to go in a boat at The Thames , Borough Market and stories about the city London. I am over fascinated and I will recommend to my work colleagues. Nice sightseeing.

by aaraney (a TripAdvisor Member) on 21 Mar 2012

I wanted to share my experience on the Harry Potter tour. Yuki was our guide and I arrived at the meeting point to find him wearing a brown sorting hat. He was delightful, smiling, and really in control of the group. We were in a busy area, he patiently waited for everyone to arrive and then moved us to a quieter location to begin the tour.

We travelled all over London... on foot, on boat, on tube. It was great to see so many different parts of the City in relation to the Harry Potter world. I especially liked the street with the book shops and the Leadenhall market stops.

This was simply a great tour. I saw places that I would've never knew existed in London and the whole experience left me feeling as though I was in a Potter movie. The guide, George, not only provided super knowledge about Harry Potter but also an insight into London, modern and old! The cost is amazing for what you experience. I wholly recommend this tour! Thanks

by Irene Y (a TripAdvisor Member) on 21 Mar 2012

Our knowledgeable guide was George. My husband and I had a fun evening walk, even though we were not fanatic fans of Harry Potter. I agree with some other reviews here. The walk is worth it. it covered a large part of london, and many of the lanes and alleys that you would not have known more about if not for this walk. The thames clipper was a great ride at night and i was also able to capture tower bridge night view zooming in from London bridge. I don't think I'll be able to find these places by myself D.I.Y if I didnt take this tour. Great walk Great guide ;-p I thought George would really look like Harry Potter if he had his glasses changed to round rimmed...but it would look strange if he was leading other tours. ha ha. good job!

by TSLondonCork (a TripAdvisor Member) on 21 Mar 2012

Having lived in London for 14 years from 1991, I know the place pretty well but I got such a fabulous, fresh perspective on the place as well as revisiting well-loved haunts. Becky was so enthusiastic and knowledgeable and was so patient with my 8 yr old who patently thought that a good tour-ee would ask questions relating to the topic to the tour guide virtually every minute that Becky wasn't actually telling us something :-) It's great fun going to innocuous streets and then seeing Becky's photos of it as used in the HP films. Such a treat to have the riverboat trip too and we saw so many other spectacular, non-HP things too. Highly highly recommended. Kids were so entranced that they didn't grumble about the walking at all.

by Josh S (a TripAdvisor member) on 21 Mar 2012

A big thanks to Celebrity Planet and Yuki for a nice Sunday morning walk around London. It was nice to see and hear London beyond the bus and touristy stops. We recognized some locations but were able to see and piece others together with the help of Yuki's visual aids. His voice projected so you'll be able to hear him without being directly next to him. Plus he was patient throughout the tour - waiting for my family's slow pace and others fogetting their Oyster cards.

If you have smaller children, bring a stroller and/or bring snacks and water. They will get tired. My older kid (10 years) doesn't like to walk, but had no problems with the tour. Get your Tube passes (Oyster/Travelcard) BEFORE the walk!

The boat ride was nice and could suffice as that boat ride that you should do on the Thames.

Thanks again Yuki. Learned more about HP and London!

by Ruth on 18 Feb 2012

Being such a huge Harry Potter fan, it was impossible for me to miss this chance to see the actual locations that inspired the books and where the movies were filmed.

There were few of us, but I think that only made it easier to hear what our guide, Yuki was saying, and keeping up with him and his explanations.

I really loved it! It wasn't too tiresome, the pace was steady and I got to see the street that inspired Diagon and Knockturn Alleys, which is something I've ALWAYS wanted to see/go there.

Will definitely go on more sight-seeing tours in the future! Many thanks*

The guides are Harry Potter fans too, so they know what they're talking about, they're just passionate about what they show us.
The visit includes a boat trip.

My friends and I went on the Harry Potter walking tour of London, led by the excellent Yuki Tokeshi (unmissable in his enormous wizard's hat). The tour took in many of the famous and not-so-famous parts of London that have formed the backdrop to the 8 Harry Potter films. Our tourguide regaled us with many fascinating facts and stories about JK Rowling's books, and the making of the films. He certainly knew his stuff, and his voice was strong and clear enough to be easily heard above the London traffic. He was also excellent with the children in our party - encouraging one to proudly hold the tour banner in the air as we walked along, so that no one got lost! All in all it was an extremely enjoyable afternoon, highly recommended.

For our tour we had Yuki, he was fantastic! Very lively, friendly and always outsmarting us on our Harry Potter knowledge. Took us to some great places always relating to the filming and things from the books. If you get Yuki as your tourguide, you are very lucky!
The walk is quite fast paced and it lasted for a few hours. There is a lot of walking, so if this isn't your thing then you have been warned!
If you are travelling by train to london (by chiltern railways i think) then be SURE to pick up the 2 for 1 leaflets, it saves you a lot of money for this tour!

It was very fun seeing the kids on the tour contending with each other to answer our guide's Harry Potter question. One little girl was particularly impressive. She could almost answer all of the questions! I would like to thank our guide, Yuki, for an enjoyable tour which kept everybody thoroughly entertained.

I went on the walk with my 15 year old son, who is a big fan of Harry Potter. We both thoroughly enjoyed our time finding out loads of stuff from the books, films and general information about London. It was well thought out and we were kept on our toes with questions for us all to answer. The main reason why it was such a good time was our Guide, Shannon. She did a wonderful job keeping the group together and was respectful of the various speeds of the group. We were impressed with her knowledge and she put it over in a very friendly and informative way. I would recommend this Walk to anyone. It was excellent value for money. A very good time was had by all. Please pass onour thanks to Shannon.

  72. A Magical Time

    by msyc87 on 12 Apr 2011

I went on the Harry Potter walk last weekend with two friends and it was a lovely walk through London, with a scenic boat ride thrown in too! Our tour guide, Yuki, was animated and engaging and was great with the kids too.

The tour was quite a long walk, lasting around 2.5 hours, but we were pre-warned right at the start and also warned about the need for a travel card. It gets a bit tiring, but even with lots of kids, pushchairs and older people, the tour guide kept us all entertained and motivated and had lots of of extra trivia about London which added a nice touch.

All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable tour, and I would strongly recommend to even people who just want a quick tour of the main attractions in London.

    by NewcastleBlue_Nose on 13 Jan 2011

Harry Potter tour was thoroughly enjoyable and informative - probably more so for those who are diehard HP fans. Even if you're not a big fan there's plenty to take in during the near 3 hour tour - including key locations from other films like Bridget Jones and historical London sites like the location of the Great Fire of London. Price of ticket also included a short river cruise along the Thames. A great way to work off a hearty London Sunday breakfast!

  78. Marvellous Walking Tour of Harry Potter's London

by JamieRo on 13 Jan 2011

We were thrilled with this walking tour of Harry Potter's London, not just as fans of the books and movies, but as newcomers to London who found themselves in Leicester Square, Scotland Yard and Trafalgar Square, on a boatride down the Thames, Bridget Jones' (and Harry's) East London, across the London Bridge and, eventually, at the real (it's really there!) Platform 9 3/4 at King's Cross station. Even if you don't know much about Harry (and our multinational tour group were big fans), you'd learn more about London itself than you could imagine in just 2.5 hours. Our tour guide, James, knew his stuff - his London and his Harry - and clearly relishes the opportunity to share his beloved city. His tour was one of the highlights of our trip to London.
