Our guide Rob was very knowledgable and painted a vivid picture of London in the 1800's, he talked us through each murder and also covered various myths and Conspiracy theories of who the ripper was. All in all we had a great time and I recommened you do the evening tour to set the scene and make it more realistic.

The tour guide was a gentleman called Rob who had a brilliant Theatrical voice which in the busy streets of Whitechapel is needed. Very good sense of humour which again with all the noise of the traffic came in handy to keep people engrossed in the subject matter.

Fantastic knowledge of the area and the gruesome facts of Jack the Ripper. Time went by so quickly that is did not feel like we have been going around for over an hour and a half. My boyfriend and I walked away feeling more factual as well as animated in our conversation on the subject. Would be a wonderful choice to teach children a little London History and I highly recommend this company.

    by Fenway2013 (a TripAdvisor Member) on 4 Mar 2014

I went on the Jack the Ripper tour yesterday. The tour was enhanced by an eloquent guide, George, who told us the grim tales with gusto. Covering several sites he had to set a good pace, so the tour was certainly not a casual stroll. He did his very best to describe the horrible place that Whitechapel had become, but social progress and a new community from Bangladesh make it hard to evoke that grim era. There are a couple of short Victorian streets but thankfully London is now a very different place! If you are an officianardo of the mystery don't be put off. If you want nasty old London, perhaps go to the 'London Dungeon'. That said I have no regrets about going on the tour and my thanks again to the guide.

I was a bit worried that she would think this tour would be lacking the details and facts that she had got from her books but my worries quickly disappeared as our guide, Joe, started to tell his tales. He was really enthusiastic and didn’t sound as if it was a speech he’d repeated many times before for other trip walkers. He really knew his stuff and gave us differing opinions on some facts allowing us to decide for ourselves who we thought the ‘real’ Jack may have been. He also handled the drunk idiots very well and I think we were all relieved when they finally decided to go off on their own and not continue the tour - too bad it wasn't earlier!!
Overall it was a great tour and was really interesting. Would definitely recommend it to anybody thinking of doing it :)

With Ross Saturday 21st December 2013. Very entertaining and informative. Weather windy and drizzly but added to the atmosphere. Loved the rats, and Ross it was Samuel Johnson who said "Why, Sir, you find no man, at all intellectual, who is willing to leave London. No, Sir, when a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford."

She knew a lot of details and seemed so passionate about it. She also had to deal with a couple of drunk people interrupting us, that sadly were trying to get some attention, so she truly deserve the 5 stars!

She projected her voice so well, was very articulate and engaging, and there was no holding back on the blood and gore! Was good to do on a cold dark night, walking through parts of East London that haven't changed too much since the Victorian times, you could almost imagine what it might have been like in those times, which made it slightly scary! This was my first walking tour around London and with a keen interest in the ‘Ripper’ murders I was curious to see what it would be like. As mentioned in a previous review, the tour visits the sites of the 5 undisputed ripper victims - not in chronological order, but in a more practical order that drastically cuts down the amount of walking the group would otherwise have to do. A historical timeline of the murders is also provided in a summary at the end of the tour. Tour groups can vary in size anywhere between 5 & 35 people, but my group was a friendly, attentive bunch of about 10 people. Our tour guide’s name was ‘Siddy’ & she was nothing short of fantastic!! Clearly she is very knowledgeable about the Jack the Ripper murders but it was the passionate, engaging way she passed that knowledge on to our group (without being OTT) that made this tour so much fun! I would certainly recommend this tour without any hesitation!!

I was a virgin tour walker. This was my very first time, so I needed to be impressed. I took the tour with my girlfriend and my daughter. By the way, this was a surprise for my daughter who is an avid Jack The Ripperite. We met our guide, Siddy, at St.Botolphs church near Aldgate underground station. Our party consisted of about 10 people, so it had a nice personal touch about it. Siddy, as a tour guide, was EXCELLENT. She was friendly, funny and very knowledgable about the whole Ripper history and background. Though it was cold and the rain threatened to wash us out on a couple of occasions, the walking tour was a great experience. Siddy's voice projection was very good and needed to be against the traffic in some places. She set the scene for each of the murders expertly. You could almost feel yourself being teleported back in time and being a 'fly on the wall' witnessing each gruesome murder. I would thoroughly recommend this tour. My daughter absolutely lapped it up. My only suggestion is for Siddy to dress up as a prostitute of the period. Nothing kinky, it's just that all of the Ripper's victims were prostitutes. It would add to the occasion and overall experience. The audience might even feel that the presence of The Ripper, might be amongst them in search of another victim to add to his tally.

Did the walk last night, we came up from Epsom, which took a little longer than expected. We meet our Guide Siddy at St. Botolphs, she introduced herself and then proceeded to introduce herself to all the others in our group, which for a cold November evening was quite a few. The tour started at prostitutes island, which was a revelation in its self. Siddy was very knowledgeable on the subject, we had no idea really just the usual stuff on TV so the tour was a great insight into the controversy around who Jack the Ripper really was. it was also interesting to see Whitechapel area, We had not been to that part of London for several years and the change is incredible. Siddy was able to pass on titbits of information regarding the area along with the Ripperology. Would wholeheartedly recommend this tour, it would have been nice to stop off at the pubs, but that is another tour waiting for us I am sure. thank you Siddy.

Having said that, our tour guide Rob was very knowledgeable and made sure that everybody stayed together during the tour. It was very interesting to hear the different theories and conspiracies and to see the original bits of Whitechapel that still exist. There was obviously other tour companies doing walks at the same time and they seemed to either be dressed up in period costume or have handouts to show their customers which would have been a nice touch.
The whole thing lasted about 90 minutes which is just about right and my party of 5 enjoyed it very much.

Last night, 03/04/13 Alex our tour guide, gave me, my friend and her parents an extremely interesting tour of white chapel, giving us all the glory details of Jack the Ripper's 5 or possibly 7 victims including the possible murderers. Alex was very engaging and knew his topic really well!. would recommend it as it was extremely interesting and covered a general history background as well as all the Ripper murders. Not too far to walk around the sites either. Worth going!! Would definitely use Celebrity Planet again for London walks,

Great and exciting tour in search of the footsteps of Jack the Ripper. The tour guide Alex was really competent and lead us to the most important places. Although it was a cold night I enjoyed it and maybe especially because of this atmosphere the tour was exciting and animated. I can definetely recommend it! :)

Myself, husband and grandson went on Friday 29 march. Was a freezing cold evening but did not put us off the walk. Learnt a lot from the tour guide calked Alex. He was very knowledgeable about the ripper. Very informative and although i have worked around mitre square and commercial road and city of London since 1989 and husband same area plus canary wharf it wasn't until Alex told the story of the ripper that it put it all in perspective and gave more meaning. Would highly recommend!

Went on the Jack the ripper tour a couple of weeks ago and had a great time! Although it was absolutely freezing, the tour guide alex was knowledgeable and quite funny. Making the gruesome tour a little more light-hearted when needed! Would definitely recommend anyone who wants to find out a little more about jack the ripper or fancies something a little different one evening!

last night ( 2nd,march) me and a few friends along with Alex who was our very well spoken, very knowledgeable and funny tour guide took us around the white-chapel area showing us where these gruesome acts were committed along with general history of the police forces at the time and other things to do with the area, we did have a few problems with other tour guides just being childish and standing next to us all at one point , where by Alex had to stop and walk us around the corner but he just laughed it off and carried on like a professional , which is something i cannot say for the other tour guides. But all in all i would happily suggest this tour for friends, family's and couples well just about everyone really , i wouldn't so much suggest this for kids only due to the nature of it though :)

My friend and I went on the Jack the ripper walking tour and loved it! Our tour guide George was great and there wasn't a question we asked that he couldn't answer. He was very knowledgeable and runs a fun tour. You visit all the crime scenes and go into the history of Jack the ripper as well as the history of London at that time which was very interesting. I've read up loads on Jack the ripper and this tour had lots of information I hadn't heard before.
It was pouring with rain and we thought about cancelling but so glad now that we didn't.Would like to do the tour again now [with George because he was a really good guide!] in the winter....be more atmospheric in the dark!

I took my friend on the Jack the Ripper walking tour for her birthday and it proved to be the best walking tour of London we'd both been on (so far!).
Alex, the guide, was engaging, well informed and able to impart the large amount of information in an entertaining, yet educational way.
The 2 hours zoomed by and I felt that I learnt alot.

There were lots of questions posed by Alex and some humour thrown in for good measure. I took my 11 year old daughter along as well and with Alex's excellent explanation of events she pretty well managed to keep up with the story.

Really enjoyed this tour - one of those things I'd heard of but never got around to actually doing. Alex the guide was excellent - very friendly, helpful and up for a chat between stop off points. He was well researched, appeared to have a passion for his subject, and seemed to really enjoy himself, which rubbed off on the rest of us, despite the terrible weather. He also has a great voice for a tour around busy parts of London - clear and loud - so we were all able to hear. I can't recommend this enough. Many thanks for an unexpectedly enjoyable evening. A really good tour made interesting and humorous by Alex the guide, who comes across as extremely friendly. by Rebecca W (a TripAdvisor Member) on 30 Nov 2012

Alex was a brilliant tour guide - very natural, interesting, funny and knowledgable. He set the scene of late 19th century Whitechapel, and gave a great history of the murders. I learned a lot without it feeling like a lecture, and was thoroughly entertained for the whole tour.

I was also really happy it wasn't one of those tours with awkward acting and costumes and things.

We did think we'd be stopping off for a drink at a pub which would have been nice, but we did that after the tour anyway so we were happy.

    I highly recommend this tour.

by Sascha M (A TripAdvisor Member) on 29 Dec 2011

Me and my friends attended to the Jack the Ripper tour in London on 26th of novembre 2011 and I liked it a lot. We met George (guide) at St. Botolph's church in east London and it was already dark outside. Best atmosphere for such a cruel story. He was very nice and friendly and had a huge knowledge about London and Jack the Ripper.
If you are not english, it's not a problem to understand him. He speaks very understandably and with a perfect voice.

We saw all crime scenes where the murders happend and got a lot of information about it.
The walking tour was not too long, quite perfect. We stopped often and visited the next ancient and dark place of east London. I was really impressed how much George knew about London and Jack the Ripper, how many details he revealed. He could also answer all of our questions and recommended nice places of London. We got not only informations about Jack the Ripper, but interesting others as well.
During the tour, you will see dark, cruel and scary places but also nice places for dinner or walk, for example. The tour took about 2 hours and was not too long. We had enough time talk and this is what I like. Speaking english.
The tour brings you out of the tourist area and let you scare sometimes.
Last word: absolutely brilliant (like this)

I did the above two walking tours with them. On both occasions due to work commitments, I had to postpone it for a week, and the company was very accomodating to this.

The Jack the Ripper tour was interesting, and well planned. The tour of Nottinghill also, but perhaps not as much, due to the subject matter.

I recently went on the Jack the Ripper tour and found it most enlightening. Being walked about Whit Chapel by two charming and highly informed young guys was great and they made me feel very looked after.
They had some very interesting facts and theories that I had never heard about or even thought of, and what a treat for one of the young men to be the son
of M.J.Trow one of the leading experts on Jack the Ripper. All in all I found this one of my highlights of coming to London and would recommend it to any one that wants to see London from an entirly different point of view and who has ever been intrigued by Jack the Ripper and wants to learn little know facts.

    Many Thanks to all involved

by Sozboz on 13 Jan 2011

Me and my brother fancied a Ripper tour for Halloween. There are a few out there but I'd heard this one recommended during the day. Tali (our guide) was brilliant. He was young but well informed and alternated the mood between educational and frightening with ease. He had some companions with him who stood in the shadows and made me nearly jump out of my skin on the dark streets of East London. Got to say the walk had me transfixed throughout and by the end I felt I'd had a really unique Ripper tour. Be warned though, it is not for the feint hearted, as that Ripper fella wasn't a good egg at all. We told Tali at the end we enjoyed it so much that I'd write this, and recommend this to anyone who wants an entertaining night out in the gothic mists of Whitechaple's alleyways. 10/10
